Bolt Farm Luxury Treehouse & Retreat
The Bolt Farm Treehouse is located on 40 beautiful acres in Walhalla, South Carolina (about 2 hours north of Atlanta). The treehouse was designed and built by Seth Bolt from the band NEEDTOBREATHE and his father, Larry. They wanted the treehouse to be a place worthy of his wedding day because it was where he and his wife, Tori, were to spend their honeymoon in May of 2016. The luxury treehouse retreat has exploded in popularity after being featured in several viral videos including this one from Insider Travel. At the time of writing this The Bolt Farm Luxury Treehouse is fully booked for 2018 and into the first week of 2019, so if you want a chance to stay here you need to book well in advance!
Bolt Farm Property
The property is immaculately kept with hiking trails throughout. The treehouse is positioned in a manner to be both easily accessible and give guests the highest level of privacy all year round. It was so nice to get out and hike the property in the morning. There is something about being back in the Carolinas for me that I loved. The smell of the pines and the crunch of the fallen leaves beneath my boots, I didn’t want to leave when our short stay came to an end.
The treehouse consisted of the main house where the bed and bathroom were, as well as an additional tower with a grill ice chest and sitting area across a small rope bridge. The sitting area atop the tower is a perfect place to take in the sunrise and sunset. The treehouse had several hidden hatches that lead to little decks, and a swinging bed beneath the main house, which we loved!
Treehouse Glamping in South Carolina
There may not be a better place for treehouse glamping in the United States. Ideally located in upstate South Carolina, there is no wrong time of year to visit! We had cool weather during our stay, but with the gas stove and electric heaters, we were very comfortable. The treehouse cabin features a king-size bed, bathroom, and a whole chest full of board games! It rained our first night in the treehouse and the sound of the rain hitting the tin roof will either put you into a deep sleep (like it did for me) or drive you nuts (like it did for Mallory), but there are earplugs provided if you are a light sleeper.
One thing to note is the only shower on the property is outside, so during the winter months it is a bit chilly, but the water is plenty hot! I showered the morning we were departing, and I was happy I did because the outdoor shower is a perfect way to take in nature and center yourself for the day.
Bolt Farm Treehouse Glamping VIP Package
Shortly before our stay, we were contacted by Sonia from Bolt Farm about their VIP package, which included a bottle of wine, two coffee mugs, smores supplies, and an amazing smelling candle from the Charleston Candle Company. We immediately said yes and really enjoyed the wine and smores during our stay.
Activities near Bolt Farm Treehouse
The area surrounding this amazing Airbnb Treehouse is ideal for those who love the outdoors. You can hike the 2.5 miles of trails on the property, or drive less than twenty minutes for some great hiking through the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are also some beautiful waterfalls in the area, so an outdoors and nature Instagrammer will be in paradise!
We went to one of the closest parks located in the Sumter National Forest but maintained by the city of Walhalla, Stumphouse Tunnel, and Issaqueena Falls. The tunnel is an old railroad tunnel that wasn’t completed before the start of the civil war and is the home to a Clemson University bat study. The park is beautifully maintained, and you can even get behind the waterfall, which makes for some beautiful photos!
